RUFC - RUST becomes Millers Trust

RUFC - RUST becomes Millers Trust

Rotherham United Supporters Trust held their AGM yesterday evening at the Rotherham United Suite and it was decided that a change of name was necessary - they are now to be called Millers Trust.

Chairman, Mark Thomas, told Radio Sheffield that as the Millers is our nickname they thought Millers Trust would be a better name for them.

Mr Thomas also said he was numb and very disappointed when he heard the news that the club may go into administration yesterday. 'You have to dust yourself down, look to the future and be as positive as you can,' he said.

'We are determined to ensure League football continues in Rotherham and we will take the message to every corner of the Borough to encourage local people to get behind the club. We have a loyal fan base which any investor could build on and we regularly take around one thousand five hundred fans to away games.

'There's also positive talks still taking place between the club and Rotherham Council regarding the Community Stand and this board has a good relationship with the Council. The Board made the Council aware of the problems they were having and the Council said that this would not deflect from any exploritory talks over the new ground at Parkgate and the next meeting has been arranged for the 22nd February.

'The Board have said that they would be happy to either work with any new investor or they could put the club up for sale.

'You know, we have a reasonable chance of getting to the play-offs and gaining promotion. We, ourselves, have some small finance which we may be able to let the management team have. It's just a matter of looking positive.'

If anyone was at the meeting last night and would like to make any comment please feel free to add your thoughts.
