'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Chairman 'I'm Skint'

Rotherham United issued a notice of intention to appoint an adminstrator at the beginning of this week which, in layman terms, means if we don't find someone to put some money into the club within six weeks then the club will go into administration and, at least, the team will be docked ten points.

Chairman, Denis Coleman, has told The Advertiser that after two years at the helm of the club he is 'slogging my b******s off and I am skint.'

'Two years ago I had a business that was making me a lot of money and I could have virtually retired. The same goes for the other directors as well, all our businesses have suffered - and our personal lives as well. But, if I hadn't got involved two years ago the club was going to shut because there was no one else stepping forward. But, I don't regret getting involved. I came in totally as a fan and because me and the other Board members are all fans we've probably gone a bit further than most people would.

'It's been terrible to announce the news this week. We can sit here and say if we'd had a little bit more luck here and there then things might have been different. Barnsley have notched up one million pounds from their cup run - if only we could have done that. And, the poor home crowds haven't helped - we feel there is a lot of apathy in Rotherham. But, this is not knocking the three thousand loyal supporters who do turn up - we could just do with a few more. I accept the facilities at Millmoor play a part in it but people did turn out for the United Rotherham Day.

'This situation is not going to go away, it's there and we have to get on with it and hopefully, at the end of the day, it will all come good.'
