Millers enter administration again

The official site has confirmed earlier reports that Rotherham have unfortunately had to go into administration for the second time in just 18 months.

With hundreds of thousands of pounds owed to the Inland Revenue as a result of low attendances and other incomes not as high as were hoped, having failed to be granted a 10 day extension on their intent to go into administration at a Leeds Court yesterday, only being granted a further 24 hours to the two weeks already given, the club had no other option but to enter administration once again.

The result of doing this means a 10 point penalty, which sees the Millers drop from 7th - 11th, 6 points off the play-offs, having previously been occupying the final play-off place before this measure.

Millers chairman Dennis Coleman had been meeting with a potential investor yesterday and it was hoped an agreement could have been meet within this 10 day period, hence the request, but with only 24 hours given this clearly wasn't enough time and no new backer has yet been found, but hopefully it still can.

When the Millers previously went into administration the 10 penalty points eventually cost them relegation into league one, but with eight matches remaining in the current season Mark Robins will still be hopefully that he can guide them to the play-offs and a chance to get back to the Championship, but the clubs long term future will most definitely be the priority at this point in time.

What lovely people you all are. Yes, I agree with Mr Fear - spread the wealth around within football and it might never happen to another club.
