'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Doom and Gloom

As if coming back from sun, sea and surf (and rum - oh, lots of rum) to wind, cold and snow showers wasn't enough, I had to come back to lots of miserable Millers yesterday.

Before I went away I knew the club was under threat but the last thing I was told, by various people, is that 'it would be OK.' And, I believed them. You see, nobody else around seemed to think the club was near crisis, everyone was going around as usual and planning games ahead and so I thought, go with the flow.

Then, with me some many thousands of miles away, the texts started to arrive.
'They've gone to Court'
'No decisions until tomorrow afternoon'
'Late night talks with potential investors taking place'
'We've gone into administration'
'We've been docked ten points'
'They're sacking people'

But still, I hung onto hope. Still I refused to believe that my beloved club was going down the pan quicker than a bad curry from a take away.

Then, I finally made my way to the computer yesterday and was a bit dumbfounded at all the doom and gloom around.

OK, we're, frankly, in the sh*t, but surely it's now, more than ever, that the club needs the fans to be positive. It's now we need to show what being a true Miller is. We are going to finish the season and there still is chance of the play-offs. More than ever I do believe that we need to get behind the team and sing, shout, clap, scream them to victory today and for the remainder of the season - let's not make the earlier efforts of the management and team just end up as distant memories.

There's two ways to look at it - get out there and urge them on and let's show the rest of the football world what we can do, even under crisis. It could mean we get to the play-offs and to Wembley and go up into another league. Or, get out there and urge them on because it could be the last chance you have to do it.

But, please, no more negativity - let's go and SUPPORT the team. Let's go and be POSITIVE.

UP THE MILLERS
