RUFC - Trust Meeting Last Night

The Millers Trust held an open meeting last night at the Rotherham United Suite where it was revealed that seven buyers, so far, had shown an interest in the club with perhaps another coming forward today, although, as yet there have been no formal bids.

The overall debt is higher than the fans were originally led to believe with it now being said to be between £500,000 and £1m - the taxman being owed in the region of £300,000 - (which makes me wonder how long we haven't actually been paying him).

The policing for the final two games of the season, against Dagenham and Redbridge and Barnet, will be £10,000.

The Trust put forward ideas that fans don't travel to the last two away games, at Grimsby and Mansfield, but instead send the money they would have spent going to the Trust.

They also suggested that season ticket holders pay on the gate for the final two home games.

Speaking to The Star, Trust Chairman, Mark Thomas said, 'The Administrator said his aim is to save the club but, if he was left with only one bid, then he would sell. He intends to have new owners in before the end of the season.'

The Administrator gave, 5pm, Friday, 11 April as the time and date for any bids to be in for but on RotherFM, this morning, they said this could now be extended.

The Trust has recently contacted two hundred and thirty businesses about making contributions and committee member, Steve Exley, said, 'Our aim is to have a bigger influence so this rubbish doesn't happen again - twice in two years is a bit clumsy.'
