RUFC - Warrington 'love to stay'

Rotherham United goalkeeper, Andy Warrington says that he is confident that a buyer will come in for the club.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post he said, 'I'm staying confident and think there are people out there who want to invest. It would be a crying shame if the club went bust but I don't think it will come to that. I think we will be OK and we have to keep positive. I'm a local lad and I would love to stay at the club.'

The Millers went into Administration earlier this year and there was a deadline of last Friday for any interested parties to buy the club. It has been reported, by the Administrator, that there have been several bids and he will be looking over them this weekend.

Warrington went on to talk about his manager, Mark Robins, 'He's a young manager in his first job and up until Christmas we were performing great on the pitch and he probably couldn't have wished for anything better. In the past couple of months it's probably gone from the best he could dream about to the worst.'

The players and staff, with one exception, agreed to defer their wages to help the club through the present crisis.

'It's all about sticking together,' Warrington said. 'The staff have had their hands tied. When they have had information to pass onto us they have passed it on immediately.

'The win at Grimsby lifted everyone and we like to think that if we do our job on the pitch the rest will take care of itself because we have no influence on that. The least we can do is give one hundred per cent on the pitch. We are playing for pride at the moment and, although there are a lot of uncertainties around the club at the moment, the lads aren't coming into work moping. If we don't play well people will say the off field things are affecting us but it's not that. Every team has a dip. It's a shame we lost the ten points but before that, even though we weren't playing our best, we felt we had achieved something this season.

'A lot of us have said we are playing for pride.'
