'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Where will we call 'home' next season?

With Rotherham United expect to name Tony Stewart as the new owner of the club sometime today, the biggest question now on Millers fans lips is, 'where will we play?'

It is understood that Mr Stewart has already been in talks with the Booth family, who are the land owners of Millmoor, but, with time of the essence, a decision has to be sorted sooner rather than later.

Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas, told The Advertiser that if the club has to move then, although it's a massive task, it can be done.

It would seem, if Millmoor is out of the question, then a move to Don Valley Stadium is the next preferred venue, which, according to The Advertiser, is 'three miles away on the other side of the Rotherham-Sheffield border' - most Millers fans will say 'the wrong side of the Rotherham-Sheffield border' I think.

'We don't want to have to move there,' Mr Douglas said, 'but if we aren't offered anything other than the existing lease arrangements at Millmoor then the move will happen.

'Don Valley would be ready for the start of next season if needed and Sheffield International Venues who manage the arena, would be happy to have us as tenants.

'From our part, every effort will be made to make sure Don Valley offers a comfortable environment for our supporters. It isn't a brand new stadium but it is adequate for our needs.'

Speaking about Mr Stewart, he said, 'I'm delighted with the calibre of the new owner. He is obviously a man who takes pride in what he has done and I'm convinced he will bring professionalism here.'
