RUFC - Don Valley Here We Come

Rotherham United have today announced that their future home will be Don Valley Stadium starting next season.

The Official Site says that every effort was made to stay at Millmoor but they were unable to achieve this.

Tony Stewart says, 'this is a momentous step for us but I am determined that every deal that this club enters into is workable and financially viable.

'We have done all we could to allow this club to stay at Millmoor but I am not going to wallow in this. We are going to make sure we make our stay at Don Valley as exciting as it can be and trust that our supporters will back us like they always have done.

'We will be working doubly hard with Rotherham Borough Council to make sure that the Community Stadium becomes a reality and as soon as possible.

'We will now press ahead with planning the coming season which has been held up with the discussions over Millmoor.'

How do you all feel? I would be absolutely gutted to have to travel to Sheffield to have to watch my home team. Also if its anything like Brighton its going to be soul less. Good luck with getting back to Rotherham asap.

It is better than not having a club Herringthorpe. Does this mean that the club have now cut all ties with the family that owns the land/ground?

How will it affect fixtures? With one of the big Sheffield teams playing at home every saturday they may ask you to play home games on a Friday night.

Sheffield Eagles also play at Don Valley plus they have athletics meetings there too - so not sure how the fixtures will pan out. It seems that way Dean1 and yes, it is better than not having a team but many of the people I've been talking too this evening are saying they will only go to certain games as it's awkward for them to get there.

Millmoor isn't glamorous - but it is in Rotherham. Thanks mattyg I think most of us Millers feel the same at the moment
