RUFC - Local Landlord on move to Don Valley

Rotherham United are moving lock, stock and barrel to Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield next season after the owner in waiting and the landlords failed to agree on repairs to the ground.

Dave Allott, landlord of The Moulders Rest at Masborough has thought about the move and doesn't think it will do him, or any of the pubs near to Millmoor, any favours.

'First and foremost I'm a Rotherham United Supporter,' Dave said, 'and I've got lots of memories at Millmoor. My Dad would turn in his grave if he knew Rotherham United were going to be playing in Sheffield.

'On the pub side of things it will be a big financial loss but not only for me for the likes of the Prince of Wales and Red Bull too. When people come into a pub before or after a game then it has a knock on effect and people often pop in for a drink on other days.

'Millmoor is one of the worst football grounds in the football league, we all know that, but it's our ground and our pitch is one of the best in this league.

'I have mixed feelings when I say that my lad, Grant, played in a local Cup Final recently at Millmoor and it looks like he will be in the history books as the last player to score there.'
