'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Say Goodbye to Saturday Footy

When Rotherham United move to Don Valley it will be the end of football in Rotherham for some years but it could also mean the end of Saturday football at 3pm.

With Sheffield already having one game every Saturday, either at Bramall Lane or Hillsbrough, it is probable that South Yorkshire Police will not allow us to play at the same time. It could be we have to play on a Sunday, Friday evening or have an earlier or later kick-off on a Saturday.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Chris Mitchell, South Yorkshire Police's Football Intelligence Officer, said, 'It is something which will have to be evaluated. A lot will depend on the opposition because having two sets of away fans in the city could be a problem.' (Actually, three sets of away fans if you count us Millers too)

'One of the big issues we will have to address is the segregation at Sheffield Midland Railway Station.'
