RUFC - Ground Share Will Work - Eagles

Rotherham United's move to Don Valley was a shock to Millers fans and it must have been a shock to Sheffield Eagles as well, who have made Don Valley their home over the last few years.

But, today, Eagles coach, Mark Aston, told The Star that they will help to make the ground share work. 'I know the Rotherham fans aren't happy about the move to Sheffield but they have to ask themselves is it better to move and play in Sheffield or is it better to have no club at all?'

The Eagles have two home games in August which could clash with Millers home games and they also have regular training sessions on the pitch at Don Valley.

'Our season has been set up for some time and we aren't going to be changing any of our fixtures. SIV have told me that the Millers moving here will have no impact on anything we are doing. It is all very positive. We need to go ahead as planned - we don't want any disruption to our match days.

'SIV might want to restrict our training sessions on the pitch and if that's so then they will have to come up with an alternative.

'But, we will be sensible and we'll work with Don Valley. I don't mind a bit of flexibility but one advantage of our being at home is that we've trained on the pitch.'

The Football League Officially release the fixtures on Monday, 16 June

Rugby clubs do tend to ruin the pitches though

We had the Rotherham Titans play at Millmoor when they were in their top league - it wasn't that bad tbh though the goal areas got a bit muddy towards the end of the season.
