'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Burchill 'I want to achieve'

Rotherham Uniteds latest signing, Mark Burchill says he hasn't joined the club to 'sit on his bum.'

Speaking to The Advertiser, the twenty-seven year old striker said, 'I'm ambitious, I want to play and I want to achieve.'

Burchill, a Scottish International, has played for Celtic, Portsmouth, Hearts and Dunfermline as well as being on loan at various clubs, including a spell at Millmoor says, 'I've had a lot of problems with injuries and I see this as a fresh start. I've played in front of some massive crowds at Ibrox and Celtic Park but playing in the SPL gets a bit repetitive as you play the same teams four times a season.
League Two is new to me with new grounds and new players to play against.'

Assistant manager, John Breckin remembers him playing on loan at Millmoor in the clubs last season in the Championship and scoring a goal against Crewe. But, Mark had to go back to Portsmouth when he picked up an injury.

'He'll admit that he was a big time player and lost his way a bit,' Breckin said. 'But he's more grounded now and should do a good job for us. After working on this deal for a month we're pleased to get him. He's a good goalscorer with his ratio being three to one. And he's very quick.'

Burchill said, 'I'm delighted to come back to Rotherham and I'm looking forward to getting promotion via the play-offs at least.'

He's still in the prime of his career at 27. I really think you have got yourself a great bargain in Burchill.

I hope he's really tall so I will be able to spot him at DV!
