RUFC - Who will we get first?

RUFC - Who will we get first?

Next season's fixtures come out tomorrow which always makes me feel the season is just around the corner.

For Rotherham United's visitors it will be a new ground to cross off their lists as we take up residence at Don Valley Stadium.

So, I wonder who will be our first opponents at our new ground?

We really have only two derbies next season, Bradford City and Chesterfield, although Lincoln and Notts County aren't that far away. Although, of course, we have a derby game in the Carling Cup when we play the Owls at Hillsborough.

Personally, for me, there's the possibility of going to five new grounds - Aldershot's Recreation Ground, St James' Park, Exeter, Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium, Adams Park at Wycombe and the New Stadium which is Shrewsbury's new ground.

I particularly look out for the first, last and Boxing Day games and tomorrow we will know who we will be playing on those days. Well, we might do! As yet there has been no official word on what day we will be playing our games - hopefully it will be the traditional Saturday, but it could be that South Yorkshire Police say we can't play at the same time as whichever of the Sheffield teams are at home that day.

We can only wait and hope!

Hopefully, we will have played a few friendlies before we meet you, CTE and got used to the pitch and our surroundings. I think it is a good first home game for us.
