RUFC - Eagles On The Move?

Rotherham United's move to Don Valley has upset the Sheffield Eagles who had made it their home since 1990 Radio Sheffield says.

The Eagles have been told today that they have to cut their training time on the Don Valley pitch to just forty-five minutes a week from July.

Mark Aston, Eagles coach, said this could jeopardise their season and their future. 'You are what you train,' he said, 'if we start playing badly will Sheffield Council hold up their hands and say we cost Sheffield the top four?

'And you know, this season, if we win our last five games then we'll hit the target of hitting the top four and if people jeopardise that, it leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. It will be that every game at Don Valley will almost be like an away game.

'We are a Sheffield team but it looks like we could be looking for a new venue outside the city for next season.'

I know a nice ground with a half built stand that they might be able to use - not far from their present home.......

They seem to have done nothing but whinge and whine since the decision was made that you was going there. Or well there loss, thats better for you and the pitch.

Well, I suppose after training more or less when they wanted since 1990 a team not even from their city coming and saying 'you can only train once a week for 45 minutes' might put their backs up a bit!

If they do move it has to be good for you. At least the pitch has a decent chance of lasting. Look at the state of the pitch at the JJB where Rugby and Football are played.
