RUFC - Robins 'Don Valley good move but...'
At tonight's Forum, Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, said that he thought going to Don Valley was a good move but 'we want to get football back to Rotherham as soon as possible.'
'No one wants to stop in Sheffield long term and the Football League won't let us.
'But we have to build up from the foundations.
'But it really is a good time to be a Rotherham United Supporter. And it's a good time for players to be coming in. The Chairman, (Tony Stewart) and his board of directors are all doing the right thing.'
Both Mark Robins and John Breckin said that the pitch at Don Valley wasn't as good as the pitch at Millmoor with Robins saying, 'We have our groundsman working at Don Valley. It isn't up to standard and we need to get it right before the start of the season so we can pass on the floor. The good news I am hearing though is that the Sheffield Eagles have stopped training on it now. With time it will improve.'
Breckin said that he was excited about the new season but that the history made at Millmoor would never change.
When they was asked about the likely points deduction Robins replied, 'We don't know yet. I'm working on that we will lose the points. Anything else would be a bonus. People are working behind the scenes trying to sort it out.
'We are going to come out of administration you know and when we do we will come out of it stronger.'
Both Robins and Breckin were wearing their new Carlotti tracksuits and they were asked when the kits would be available.
'With all that's gone off they have taken a bit of a back seat and we are still waiting for our training kits. We did have a say in them and the material is nice. When it comes out I hope you will all buy it!'
