'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Q & A with Rammie!

Rotherham United open their pre-season friendlies on Saturday at their new home of Don Valley Stadium against Derby County.

The Rams Vital Ed, Rammie, kindly answered us a few questions -

What is your name and how long have you been following The Rams?

Rammie, I know after the mascot but that's not me honest! I've been following Derby for ages, some would say too long but much like your family you can't pick you team, at least you shouldn't!

It can't have been easy dropping down a division from last season but do you expect to go straight back up again?

It wasn't a surprise at all as it was always going to happen, its just disappointing why went down with such a whimper. I don't expect us to go back up again, but believe we can and if we do we'll be better equipped next time. We went up too soon last time and weren't ready for it.

Have you got any players in during the summer?

Just a few, nine so far!

How do you feel they will do?

Paul Jewell is building the squad that he wants, what looks like being a good squad. It might take a little time for them to gel, but when they do I think they'll do really well.

Who is the best player you have ever seen in a Derby shirt?

Mine would be Aljosa Asanovic. For one season he was breathtaking for the club but lost heart after that and got the move away that he wanted. His Derby career was short, but will never be forgotten for me.

And, who is the one player you would never want back!

There is more than one I wouldn't ever want back, but I'll not single anyone out.

Which is the best game you have ever seen involving Derby?

Maybe not the best game I've ever seen but a few seasons ago we beat Forest 3-0 in the season they got relegated from what is now the Championship. I got great pleasure from that win!

Which is the best ground you have ever visited?

Pride Park of course!

Who do you think will be your main rivals next season?

Hard to say really, as if the Championship is anything like it was last season again this season half a dozen or more sides will genuinely feel they can win the league, or at least gain promotion. I think Crystal Palace, Wolves, Watford, Sheffield United and Ipswich will all be in the mix with us, but so will others.

As you know you will be visiting The Millers in pre-season and you will be our first opponents at our new home, Don Valley. Did you ever visit Millmoor? What do you know about the Millers?

I don't think I ever did visit Millmoor to tell the truth, and I don't know a great deal about Rotherham either if I'm honest, sorry! I do know that you are a good side and Mark Robins has done a very good job with the club, its just a shame that off the field problems are causing you problems once again, as they have in the past.

Good luck this season. Hopefully it will be a good and friendly game on Saturday with the best team winning.

Thanks for answering the questions, Rammie!

Good Luck in the Championship next season!

Cheers for that Rammie, being a Derbyshire tup myself, I will admit I do look how you get on. Good luck for the coming season!
