RUFC - 'League should look to the future'

RUFC - 'League should look to the future'

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart seems upbeat, even though the club look like starting on minus points next season.

With the CVA failing last weekend it looks more and more like a hefty points deduction will be doled out by the Football League - although, it could have been much worse.

Before Tony Stewart stepped in the Millers looked like they had no future and were teetering on the brink of extinction. In came Stewart and his backers to save the club but are now paying the price for former shortfalls of other owners.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Mr Stewart said, 'The Football League should forget what's gone on in the past under previous chairman and look to the future instead.

'When clubs such as Rotherham have gone into administration and then come through it, there should be an impetus of encouragment.

'Like us, Luton have a new Board and like us are being penalised for something the old regime has done. The League should be looking at ways of supporting clubs and encouraging teams like us not hammering us with a points deduction.'

There should be another way out of it as it's not this present board that got us in this situation and I think it's something the League have to look at sooner rather than later
