'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Jewell not impressed with Don Valley

Rotherham United's new home, Don Valley, did come up to scratch, Derby County's manager, Paul Jewell, implied after Saturday's friendly.

Speaking to the Derbyshire Evening Telegraph he said that the conditions were the worst he'd ever known for a pre-season game. 'It's not Rotherham's fault,' Jewell said, 'and I don't want to make too many excuses for the players, but it was a shocker of a pitch and conditions.

'I didn't realise how bad the pitch was until I stood on it. The ball was moving all over the place.

'A lot of supporters were leaving early and I was envious of them because it was turgid to say the least.'

What was the score folks? Is it sour grapes?
Dean1
It was 0-0. I think we had the edge over Derby but not really sour grapes. The pitch was bobbly and there was a lot of sand on it
