Rotherham United manager,Mark Robins, has seen his team win, lose and draw in the three pre-season games so far and admitted that the first game at Don Valley wasn't the greatest for the spectators.
Speaking to The Advertiser, he said, 'It wasn't the greatest advertisment for our new ground against Derby but I can take a lot of positives from it. Derby had a lot of talent on show and they've just come down from the Premiership and I thought we created a bit more than them although I would have liked us to take the game more to them.'
Against Derby, Robins ended the game with a completely different team to what started but on Tuesday night against, Scunthorpe, Robins changed the formation and not so many faces. He started with a 3-5-2 formation, going to a 4-3-1-2 and ended with a 4-3-3. Robins said, 'It took us a bit of time to get going but we got a bit more of the ball when we changed the formation. I thought we looked good in the last half hour of the game and finished it well.'
Robins had particular praise for Ryan Taylor saying, 'I thought he was outstanding especially in the second half against Scunthorpe and he held the ball up well against Derby. He came back from the summer break stronger and with more belief in himself. His first touch has always been good but now it's good under pressure and he's starting to believe he's a player. There are still things to work on but he's done everything we've asked of him.
'As a team we are steadly moving towards what I'm looking for but it's still early days. We have a few friendlies left and a lot of training to do.'
