'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - League Shares Transfered

The Football League have now transferred the League Shares to the owner of Rotherham United, Tony Stewart.

The Official Site says that the club has accepted the conditional offer of membership that was made by the Football League earlier this week.

Bournemouth have also been given their League Share back.

Andy Williamson, the Football Leagues Chief Operating Officer said, 'Trying to be fair to the fans of the clubs that have gone through insolvency problems while trying to be equally fair to the fans of the clubs that haven't, means that the League has to make some difficult decisions. We have to try to balance the sporting advantage a club gains over it's rivals by being able to begin again, debt free, in this manner.

'By deducting points to these two clubs it has enabled the League to allow both AFC Bournemouth and Rotherham United to continue as football league clubs without giving them an unfair advantage on their competitors.

'Both clubs are long standing members of the Football League family and we wish them every success under their new regimes.'
