RUFC - Robins has a five year target

Rotherham United manager, Mark Robins, has been given the challenge of getting the Millers to the Championship in five years by owner, Tony Stewart.

Mr Stewart set Robins the mammoth task after he signed a new contract with the club last week, saying, 'I have every confidence in Mark Robins and the target is getting into the Championship in the next four or five years.

Robins led his team to three points at the weekend against Lincoln City which means the team are now -14 and out of the relegation places in League Two. 'I don't look at the league table,' the manager said, 'there's no point. We have targets and we got off to a winning start which was important but we know we are still up against it. We want to build something for the people of Rotherham to be proud of and we will do it the right way and put things in place that will give the club longeveity - it can't be allowed to list from one near disaster to another anymore.'

Robins, who spent six months with the tonight's Carling Cup opponents, Sheffield Wednesday, a few years ago said, 'My time at Hillsborough was short and I finished my playing career there. I enjoyed it and it's a good place to do well but it's not a good place to do badly. We go as underdogs tonight so the pressure is really on Sheffield Wednesday. We want to progress as far as we can in this competition and it's a night for my players to make names for themselves.'
