RUFC - Sharps 'first target is 60 points'

Rotherham United's Club Captain, Ian Sharps, is used to starting on minus points - infact, with the seventeen the Millers received this season, Sharps says, 'that makes me on minus thirty-seven now. That must be some kind of a record!'

Since Alan Knill brought him in, Sharps has had three seasons of minus points with the Millers - two minus ten's and now the seventeen, and he told The Advertiser, 'The Football League have decided to dock us points. Whether that's right or not is not for me to say. I've had a fair bit thrown at me since I came to Rotherham but it was my own decision to come and again to sign a new contract so I just have to get on with it. I've signed for another two years and we have to make sure we are in this league next season and after that I'll try and kick on and get another contract. One of the reason we stayed is because we are happy and settled here.

'We need a good start but if we should get a set-back it won't be disastrous. Forty-three points was enough to stay up last season so our first target is sixty and we'll go on from there.

'As long as we stick together and do the right things at the right time there is no reason at all why we can't stay up.'
