'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Imps Chairman 'has to be a better system'

Rotherham United are one of the three teams that started on minus points this season in League Two, and Lincoln City Chairman, Stef Wright, says that, 'docking points is wrong and there should be a better system.'

Speaking to The Advertiser, Mr Wright said, 'It's a shame to start the season with three clubs fighting for the two relegation spots - you could get a situation half way through the season when two clubs are already relegated and the season is over for the teams in the bottom half of the table that can't make the play-offs.

'I have got sympathy with the affected clubs but there has to be a better system to penalise them. Personally, I think if you are going to dock teams twenty or thirty points, which puts them in a difficult position, then just relegate them. At least League Two would have the competative element then and the fear of relegation back.'

He also said that there shouldn't be a repeat of the delay that left his club wondering if they had an opening day fixture against the Millers or not. 'The matter should be sorted before the fixture list is brought out. If a club is in administration and can't sort themselves out then you could bring in a Conference club.'

Mr Wright says his club would be raising this issue at the next Chairman's meeting.
