'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Warrington 'hard games on way'

Rotherham United goalkeeper, Andy Warrington was the hero of the hour on Tuesday night as he made a crucial save in the penalty shoot out against Wolves and for him, it also laid a ghost.

'It's the first spot kick I've saved in five years,' thirty-two year old Warrington said. 'That was for Doncaster in the Conference. So, it's fantastic to keep one out though, I have to admit, the ball came at a nice height for me. We don't practice penalty saving because, at the end of the day, it's one against one. I look at the taker's body language and if he's running straight at me I tend to stand. I also study the positioning of the ball and I look at the taker's eyes to see if they are nervous. Sometimes it's pot luck but I'd like to think I go the right way most of the time.

'Against Sheffield Wednesday I tried to put Sean McAllister off by pretending to dive one way even though I knew I could have gone the other way. Against Wolves the lads in front of me, Ian Sharps and Nick Fenton, were magnificient and I only had one serious save in the game to make.

'We've looked solid in defence in all our five games this season and now we've got to take it on. What matters most is the league and we've got Brentford, Chesterfield and Rochdale coming up and they will be hard games.

'September is going to be a tough month.'
