'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins on Sky Sports One

Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins, was a guest on Sky Sports One's Goals On Sunday.

Mark spoke about yesterday's loss at Saltergate saying that he was disappointed and felt that we'd had some decent chances but that we didn't take them. 'But, Chesterfield were good value for the win,' he said. 'They kept Reuben Reid quiet and they had a few too many chances for my liking. It was a bad way for us to lose the game in the ninety-fourth minute.'

He then went on to talk about the minus seventeen points and said it was a relief when they finally found out what the deduction was. 'It's a handicap,' he admitted, 'but we've got a decent squad of players and we are looking up and not down. We are doing OK regarding results but we have to bounce back after yesterday. We've got a new Chairman in and we have plans to go forward and it will be difficult but we have to make sure we are back in Rotherham in four years. And I feel that everyone, not just us, has to get their houses in order. We have done that now.

'The Carling Cup is a blessing. We have to try and get income wherever we can. Both our games went to penalties and it's been a tough start to the season and we have another tough game next week at home to Rochdale. Then we have another Championship side in the Carling Cup in Southampton and we've drawn Leeds away in the JP Trophy.'

He was asked about how he coped coming from being a player to a manager and said, 'The transition was fairly easy but being a manager is a twenty-four hours, seven days a week job.'

I don't usually watch the programme but I enjoyed it today - maybe because some of it was about lower league football and interested me a little more? By the way, nice shirt Mark!
