'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Rhodes 'Of course I meant it!'

Rotherham United striker, Alex Rhodes, got the nod to start from manager, Mark Robins last weekend against Luton Town and scored the most bizarre goal to be seen at Don Valley - yet!

'I was glad to get back in the side,' Rhodes told The Advertiser. 'Like the gaffer says, if you're playing well you will always be involved.'

Although having started the first six games of the season, Mark Robins had left Rhodes on the bench for a few games before last weekend. But a couple of poor performances meant that he got his chance again against Luton and he sealed it off with a goal, that was surely meant to be a cross.....or was it?

'Of course I meant it!' the striker said. 'I looked up and thought, if I got it in the right area then it would be OK - and then I saw it in the net! As long as I score it doesn't matter if they go in off my ear. If we get the right result then I'm happy.

'We go to Dagenham on Saturday and we can get back to zero points. There's still a long way to go but at least we're going in the right direction.'
