'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins 'Promotion? Ridiculous!'

Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins, has rubbished talk about his team getting into the play-offs this season.

Starting on minus seventeen the team have done extremely well to get themselves to plus five at this stage of the season and some fans have been talking about getting into the play-offs. But, Robins told The Advertiser, ''That's just ridiculous!

'We are playing well and I was really pleased with Tuesday's win at Bury but it's ridiculous to start talking about play-off places.

'We are still behind Grimsby and a long way behind the upper half of the table. People have to understand what a near impossible situation it is to claw back so many points. Because of where we are in the table we have had to approach games in a different manner even though our form would have been good enough to put us near the top. But to start talking about play-offs isn't realistic.'

Come on '84, the gaffer is being realistic. I, for one, won't be disappointed if we end up anywhere above where we are now. It's been a tough season and it's not three months old yet! I know the Chairman was talking about play-offs but I do think he said it 'tongue in cheek'

I think you will be pleasantly surprised Mark, when we end up in 6th position!!

I TOO WOULD BE HAPPY MID-TABLE IF WE WERE IN THIS POSITION IN JANUARY , BUT SO MUCH NEGATIVITY 12 GAMES AND 102PTS LEFT TO PLAY FOR AND REALISTICALLY WE WOULD BE 4th TOP..

And, if Robins came out and said 'we will be in the play-offs' at the end of the season and then we weren't - who would be the first people to throw it back in his face? The fans.

DONT EXPECT HIM TO SAY THAT I JUST THINK HE SHOULD NOT DISMISS THE POSIBILITY SO EARLY ON. AS A PLAYER I WOULD THINK 'WHY BOTHER ???
MILLERS1884
Might make them think 'we'll show him'
