'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Robins 'Cup games built confidence'

Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins, has told the Yorkshire Post that it was important to have a good Cup run this season.

The Millers were knocked out of the Carling Cup on Tuesday night by Premiership Stoke City in the Fourth Round but are still going well in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and are still in the FA Cup.

'We said at the start of the competition it was important to have a good cup run,' the Millers Manager said. 'We've not had the easiest of ties but we have been able to relax in the games. Having the seventeen point deduction at the start of the season could have had a negative effect on the players and the Cup games have provided some welcome relief from the League.

'It was always going to be a tough task at Stoke and, I think, if we had believed in ourselves a little more we could have got more out of the game. The turning point in the match was the unbelievable save the 'keeper made from Reuben Reid and overall I felt we were a little unlucky. We had a go and lost to the twelfth placed side in the Premiership.

'It has been a new club, a new team and a new start this season and we have come from absolutely nothing and credit goes to the players.'
