RUFC - Cup money to help fund new stadium

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart says that the £80,000 Carling Cup money will help fund the new stadium.

The Football League told the club that they could play their home games at Don Valley for four years and after that they had to move the club back into Rotherham. At a recent forum, Mr Stewart said that, although a site had been earmarked at Parkgate he was still looking for other sites where a stadium could be built.

Speaking to The Advertister, Mr Stewart said, 'I can promise that the £80,000 will go towards furthering our ambitions for a new stadium. Terry Stewart, our Commercial Manager, has visited other stadiums to form a specification for ours.

'The council have come up with eight different sites and there are two or three I am really excited about which includes Parkgate. We hope to be able to go to press about our preferred site by Christmas.'
