'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Holmes Pleased to be in team

Rotherham United recalled midfielder, Peter Holmes from his loan spell at York City earlier this month and he got his chance in the first team last Saturday. Unfortunately, the team suffered a loss but both Holmes and Manager, Mark Robins, thought the Millers were unlucky not to get something out of the game.

Speaking to MillersWorld on Saturday after the game, Holmes said, 'I thought we played really, really well and I'm gutted that we lost. I thought we played well and the only thing missing was putting the ball into the back of the net. They had two shots on target and scored and we had enough chances for two games. But,
football's like that and at least, with us having chances, it proves that we are getting into the right positions. The gaffer changed the formation for this game to the one that we played at the end of last season when we won four on the bounce. A few new faces came into the team today and perhaps we did well because we wanted to prove a point. Mark Joseph came back in at the back and did really well. But, we have got a good squad here.

'This formation suits my game and I hope I can keep the shirt and kick on from here. Football's all about ups and downs and if you wait long enough you will get a chance but then you have to take it. Playing reserve football is not like being in the first team where you have to be up and at them from the start. I'm just pleased to have got my chance and I'll knuckle down and hopefully one of the shirts will be mine.'

Peter played in last night's draw at Exeter City and he put in a couple of good crosses. Whether or not he played well enough to keep him in the starting eleven, only the manager will know.
