RUFC - Cann 'ouch!'
Rotherham United goalkeeper, Steven Cann, played only his second first team game last night and ended up being the hero in a penalty shoot-out.
The rest of the team find shoot-out's more-or-less old hat after beating Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves with them in the League Cup already this season. But it was the South African born Cann who came to the rescue by saving Darlington's first two penalties and his Manager, Mark Robins said, 'Steve did really well both during the game and in the shoot-out.'
The first save was good but the second save from Michael Flynn, was magnificent, if somewhat a little painful for the twenty-year old as it hit him in the groin leaving him breathless for a few minutes afterwards.
Speaking to The Star, Cann said, 'It doesn't matter how you stop them but I do prefer it not to be like that! It was painful but the main thing was that the ball didn't go in.' (we presume he's talking footballs here!)
