'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - No Parkgate - No Millmoor

After telling us that the new Community Stadium would be in Parkgate for the past few months, the club have now done a big U-turn and said, that the plans to build our new ground there have been scrapped.

Over the last few weeks there has been speculation that there were problems with the plans for Parkgate, in today's Advertiser, Rotherham United have said that it is 'unlikely' that our new ground will be built there. The club have looked at other options and Chairman, Tony Stewart says that one site has emerged a clear favourite. Mr Stewart wouldn't say exactly where the site was but it is thought that it is near to our old ground Millmoor. But, a club official has said that we won't be returning to Millmoor - either on a permanent or temporary basis.

Mr Stewart has said, 'The stadium location will put Rotherham on the map and meet the needs of the club going forward. We want a new, well planned facility with modern tecnology. We know what new stadiums are all about and in two months time we will know even more. We have a four year deadline and we have to make sure we use every month available to us. It is reassuring to have the backing of the council and I can't speak too highly of them - they have worked very close with us and been very pro-active.'

Well, it's as near to Millmoor as Don Valley, Bez! Though I think the lake in the middle might cause a bit of a problem!
