RUFC - The Derek Dalton Clock

RUFC - The Derek Dalton Clock

Rotherham United are to put in a formal request to CF Booth Limited for the recovery of the Derek Dalton Clock.

The clock, that is on the stand of the Railway End at Millmoor, was bought as a memorial to the Millers superfan Derek Dalton after his death in 1993.

Derek, who was struck down with polio at the age of two, did a lot for putting Rotherham United on the map and in his honour the red and white clock, bearing his name, was purchased.

When the Millers made their hasty retreat from Millmoor this summer, club officials sent someone to try and take the clock down but, at the time, Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas, said that specialist equipment, which they didn't have, was needed but promised that the clock would not be forgotten. This week, Mr Douglas has said that a request will be sent and told The Advertiser, 'Derek Dalton was a great supporter and ambassador for Rotherham United and there is great sentimental value attatched to the clock. When we have it I would like to think it can be cleaned up and then displayed at our future new stadium.'
