'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Stockdale 'happy to help'

Rotherham United fans were a bit apprehensive when a relatively unknown stepped up to take over Andy Warrington's place in goal when the shot-stopper got injured.

When David Stockdale was brought in on loan from Fulham, most of the fans said, 'who?' But, after keeping three clean sheets in eight games in the last few weeks, the Millers fans have taken the young 'keeper to heart. Back at Fulham now, Stockdale told The Advertiser, that he'd been 'happy to help.'

The twenty-two year old admitted that he didn't look at the League table before he joined the Millers saying, 'it was just a matter of getting games and having the chance to work with Mark Robins, who's record this season speaks for itself.'

Stockdale was a first year YTS lad at Doncaster Rovers just before Andy Warrington left and cheekily says, 'I knew of him and he might have seen me doing a bit of ball-boying - that's how old he is! It's been good working with him and goalkeeping coach, Simon Tracey and Steven Cann, who is exactly where I was at his age.

'It's a great club to be at and they treated me just like any other player. The move did me a world of good - it was brilliant.'
