'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Reid 'I just try and benefit the team'

Rotherham United have a new hero in striker, Reuben Reid, after he scored a hat-trick in the five-one win at the Deva Stadium last night.

Speaking to Gerry Somerton of RotherFM, Reid said, 'It's my first league hat-trick and it was nice to get it today. You know, it was a bit of a shock when Chester took the lead because we'd dominated the first minutes up to then. But I knew we could get back into it and thankfully we did.

'My first goal was a penalty and Drewe was getting ready to take it when I think I hear the gaffer say 'Reuben, you take it' and so it was my duty to do so, and I sent the goalie the wrong way. I thought the goalie could have done better with my second goal but thankfully it went in and the third he had no chance with it because I caught him off-guard.

'I think that's twelve goals for me now and given the position I'm playing in I'm quite happy with my tally but hopefully more will come. Everytime I go on the pitch I just try to benefit the rest of the team and do my best for the team. We've had some solid performances lately and we reaped the benefit tonight with the goals.

'We've got some tough games coming up, including Rochdale this weekend. I think it's good that we've got a big squad because I think all the lads will be needed between now and the end of the season.'
