Rotherham United striker, Ryan Taylor, scored a fantastic goal on Saturday at Rochdale and put in a very good performance - earning him the Vital Man of the Match. It was the first game he'd started since the defeat at Grimsby in January and, for me, it was his best performance in a Millers shirt for some time. Mark Robins must have thought so too as he was in last night's starting line-up, at Don Valley, against Aldershot.
After the defeat last night, Robins told the Official Site, 'All that was lacking from his performance tonight was a goal. He worked hard and held the ball up well and overall I was happy with his display.'
For me, last night, Ryan Taylor was one of only three players I thought had a decent game - the other two being Jamie Green
and Reuben Reid. Green, I think, always give one hundred per cent in a game and if he makes a mistake he's straight there to try and rectify it. Rebuen had two very good away performances for the Millers last week and he now seems to be playing as part of the team and not for himself - which can only be good for the team as a whole. I did notice though that whenever Taylor or Reid and sometimes even Green, got forward they came to a halt because no one was running with them or was there to help them. I wonder why that was? Was it because Aldershot wouldn't let them? Was it because the players weren't quick enough or was it perhaps tiredness?
Any ideas anyone?
