'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Stewart 'dual standards'

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart, has agreed with Luton's Managing Director, Gary Sweet over a 'loophole' that Southampton are 'trying out' regarding minus points.

Southampton are looking to put their parent company into administration, rather than the club itself, which could see them escape a ten point deduction.

Mr Sweet told The Times that if this happens then the 'Football League can certainly expect to hear from Luton Town. If the holding company holds one hundred per cent of the club then a liquidising of the company would result in the club ceasing to be.'

The Millers Chairman agreed, saying, 'It doesn't matter whether it's a holding company or whatever, the issue is if the creditors are not going to be paid. Should Southampton not lose any points then this is a dual standard.'

I am sure we will be hearing more of this as the week goes on...

Now is the time when football clubs turn on each other, i remember Oxford going into admin and fellow league members lending them players and football fans across the country put thier hand in thier pockets. Now we have Luton (who where also penilised because of finacial irregularities) trying to blackmail the League into penilising SFC when a Southampton Leasure Holdings have gone bust. Saints fans have already been punished for the last 10 years by Rupert Lowes underhanded reverse takeover of the club. Southampton Leasure Holdings (the radio station, morgage company and property developement companies) has been kept alive by the consistant sales of football players. If Saints are deducted 10 points then it would be a traversty

But don't you think Jesus_02 that if one club is deducted points then another should get the same punishment for the same thing? Us so called 'little clubs' are fed up with having to fight for our rights - not just in this instance - and not being heard. If Southampton had been a first or second division club then I am almost sure they would have had points deducted. And, no, I'm not saying it's the right way to go. We just want football, whatever league, to be fair.
