Millers and Bantams stalemate

Rotherham United Reserves came home with a point from the Coral Windows Stadium this evening after the game against Bradford City Reserves ended in a stalemate.

Bradford had a few trialists in their side this evening while the Millers started with seven players who have had first team action. The game began very much end to end but it was the sixteenth minute before either goalkeeper was brought into the action when Jon McLaughlin for the home side brought off a point blank save from Jordan Hatton. City should have gone in front on the half hour mark when Hakeem Adelakun found himself with only Steven Cann to beat but he blasted the ball which went well wide of goal. A minute later, Leon Clarke also sent a shot well wide when he had no one to beat but his shadow. Five minutes before half-time Omar Garcia ran into the box only to be denied by a fine save from McLaughlin.

Ten minutes into the second half and the Millers got a corner from which Andy Nicholas got his head to but it was well saved by McLaughlin. Minutes later Cann came to the Millers rescue by making a one handed save from Luke Dean whose strike came from twelve yards out. On the seventy-sixth minute a long goal kick from McLaughlin found James Craggs who ran down the wing, his cross finding Luke Sharry in the penalty area. Sharry dillied and dallied a little too long and the ball was taken off his foot by a Rotherham defender. The last action of the game came when the Millers were awarded a free-kick which Peter Holmes took quickly but McLaughlin had no trouble saving it.

Yes he did MV. MR is hoping he will get back into the first team too, before the end of the season.
