RUFC - Robins 'Brogan has to keep focused'
Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins, says that Stephen Brogan has to keep focused.
The young defender, who has been out of the first team since he broke his leg over a year ago has played a couple of times for the reserves in the last few weeks but didn't feature in the one-nil loss to Leeds this week.
'Stephen Brogan has had a back spasm,' Robins told Radio Sheffield, 'which has stopped him playing. We know that with the length of time he's been out he will pick up these niggling injuries and he won't be right until he's got a pre-season under his belt. His aim is to get a game or part of a game before the end of the season and he has to keep focussed on that. But, if he doesn't get that then it's not the end of the world.'
Asked why goalkeeper, Jamie Annerson played for the reserves on Tuesday, Robins said, 'Steven Cann had a personnal issue he had to sort out and Sheffield United and Jamie helped us out. Steven is out of contract at the end of the season and we will be having talks to him about that but, to be honest, there are one or two other issues that prioratise over Steven at the moment.'
Asked on his thoughts about the Port Vale game the Manager answered, 'I thought we gave as good as we could. We've had five games in fifteen days and three long away journeys. Port Vale really came at a bad time for us - a massive pitch on a very warm day at the end of a lot of games.'
