RUFC - Lynch 'my season has been a washout'

Rotherham United defender, Mark Lynch, joined the club a year ago from Yeovil Town and in his third game for the Millers scored two cracking goals in a three-one win at Morecambe.

The full-back was a regular in the team before a shoulder injury in the last minute against Luton in September saw him ruled out until Christmas. He came on from the bench on Boxing Day at Notts County and then strived to get himself fit in the reserves. Unfortunately, he got injured again, this time a hairline fracture to his right tibia followed by a torn ligament in his right ankle.

'This season has been a write-off for me,' the twenty-seven year old told The Advertiser. 'Football is what I'm paid to do and I've not been able to do that for six months of the season. It's so frustrating that words don't really do it justice. I've never had two operations in one season before.

'I will be back fit for next season and touch wood everything should be OK. It's catch up for me next season and I want more of the same of what we've shown this year and, hopefully, automatic promotion.'
