'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Pitch Work

Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins, says that the Don Valley pitch has let the team down in the last weeks of the season but says that he isn't criticising anyone.

'It's the first year it's been used for football,' Robins told The Advertiser. 'The Sheffield Eagles are back on it now and we just have to cope.

'We are having problems running with the ball and Exeter, who can pass the ball around, found it difficult too. We have to play on it every week and we have to adapt.

'There is going to be a lot of work done on it.'

Personally, I'm not really sure how much work can be done on the pitch with rugby played on it and concerts during the summer. From where I've been sitting in the stands it's looked nice and green but the nearer the pitch you get you can see big 'bobbles' all over it. I honestly think the groundsmen are going to need all the luck they can get.

We (Stockport) would have died for a pitch like that! Come to think of it we are on the critical list at the moment so the state of our pitch may all be irrelevant for us anyway. Good luck Millers next season, we will probably pass each other this time next season. Ra-Ra-misery-guts-Roger

We'd die for a proper football stadium, misery-guts-Roger!

Whatever the state of the pitch, it was the same for both teams!! We had the advantage of knowing what it was like!!

IF THERES GOING TO BE RUGY MATCHES AND ROCK CONCERTS ON THER PITCH , WHY SO MANY FRIENDLIES THERE!! I SUPPOSE IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO PUTTING MUCH NEEDED MONEY IN THE COFFERS ?
