RUFC - Nine Out

Rotherham United have released nine players - second goalie Stephen Cann, midfielders Alex Rhodes and Peter Holmes, Jamie Clarke, Omar Garcia, Jamie Yates, Marc Newsham, Andy Todd and Tom Cahill

Cann joined from Derby County, where he had been as a trainee but has failed to dislodge the Millers number one, Andy Warrington, from his spot. When Warrington was injured, Cann did play in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy game, where he brought off some good penalty saves. But, Manager, Mark Robins decided to bring in loan 'keepers to cover while Warrington was fit to play again.

Peter Holmes, played for Luton Town for seven years, Chesterfield and Lincoln before joining the Millers in June 2007.

Alex Rhodes has recently been on loan to Woking after signing for the Millers last summer from Bradford City.

Jamie Yates and Marc Newsham came through the Millers youth squad and have both been out on loan this season.

Andy Todd joined the club in the summer of 2007 after playing three seasons with Accrington Stanley but has had a season long loan with non-league Eastwood Town while Tom Cahill came to the Millers from Matlock Town two summers ago and has only made six starts for the Millers. He has been on loan at Ilkeston Town this season.

Omar Garcia is a centre midfield/forward player who was only given four starts in the first team this season and in my opinion, should have been given more chances.

Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas, told the Official Site, 'Everyone at the club want to thank the players for their contribution while they have been here and we wish them all the best for the future.'

Vital Rotherham echo those words and send all the released players our good wishes for their future
