RUFC - Stewart Hopes to keep Robins
Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart, has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he hopes he can keep hold of his young Manager, Mark Robins, as bigger clubs come sniffing around.
'If people see their future in Mark Robins then there is nothing we can do about it,' Mr Stewart said, 'but I hope we can hold onto him because we have a mission to finish here.'
With the rumours that Norwich City are after Robins, Mr Stewart carried on, 'The Norwich talk flatters him but we are only in year one here and I hope to move into year four in the Championship with Mark. And that will be a team job and not taking anything away from what the manager has done I'd like to think, as a Chairman, working with him, we will get where we want to. We work very well together. I came in as a sort of saviour feeling that the manager needed support. He's the guy you have to put a lot of trust in but I think there is trust in both parties with his dreams and aspirations being the same as mine.
'People are saying we are automatic promotion favourites next year which will bring a lot of pressure with it. I'd like to think that Rotherham have direction, vision and are moving forward under our watch.'
