RUFC - Football Crowds on the Up
For the fifth consecutive season, crowds at Football League games have risen.
Gates are currently the highest they have been for fifty years, having more than doubled since the 1985/86 season.
League Two crowds in England are almost three times bigger than the same league in Germany and four times bigger than those in Italy.
More than sixteen million fans have gone through Football League turnstiles this season and Lord Mawhinney, the Football League Chairman says that that is proof that the football league clubs provide an outstanding experience for supporters. He told the Football League's Official Site, 'I am particularly encouraged that more and more families are going to watch their local football league teams.
'Because of the present financial climate, mainting this progress will be a significant challenge for clubs although a number of clubs are already using innovative pricing policies to enable them to continue making live football accessible to everyone in their local community.'
The Coca Cola Championship is the fourth most watched League in Europe with attendances risign by fiver per cent. League One's attendances also rose last season.
