RUFC - 'keeper not here for the ride

Rotherham United Manager, Mark Robins, has told Jamie Annerson that he is not here to warm the bench.

Speaking to The Star, Robins said, 'I want Jamie to make it a real competition and to push Andy (Warrington) for the Number One jersey.'

Annerson, twenty-one next month, will sign for the Millers, according to The Star, on 1 July, although he is no stranger having been here twice on loan, though not playing any first team games. He also stepped in and played a reserve game for the club towards the end of the season. Jamie was a youth player both with Leeds United and Sheffield United before signing professional terms for the Blades in 2006. Although being on loan not only to the Millers but also to Chesterfield and Mansfield in the last year he has only made one first team appearance and that was for Mansfield in a 2-0 defeat. Jamie has got four U19 caps for England.
