'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Defender hopes to 'push on'

Rotherham United defender, David Haggerty says that he will be working hard over the summer, after signing his first professional deal last week.

'I'm delighted to have signed,' the eighteen year old told the Official Site, 'and my aim is to kick on from here.'

David has been out on loan at Ilkeston and Sheffield FC this season and says that he gained good experience from them.

'I picked up some useful advice when I was at Sheffield FC. It's a well run family club and the players were all great. I played under Rob Scott and Paul Hurst at Ilkeston and it was great to play some first team football there. The players were confident and they tried to pass the ball and not play it long all the time which was good.

'I've come up against some good players when I've played for the Reserves this year - for example Leeds United put out a strong side.

'I'm going to work hard this summer and get my fitness up and build up my strength and I hope to break into the first team.'
