RUFC - Breck thinks fans will like Pope

Rotherham United's Assistant Manager, John Breckin says that the club had been watching striker, Tom Pope for a while and, although admits that £150,000 is a lot of money to spend, he thinks he will become a fans favourite.

'He's got goals in him,' Breck told MillersWorld, 'and he puts in a shift and works his socks off. He's a big, strong striker and there is improvement in him but he's got a good coach here in Mark Robins, infact, none better from a strikers' point of view. With a good pre-season under his belt, let's hope he hits the ground running.

'But it's not just about him, it's about competition too. There's Ryan Taylor who has a lot of ability and I think there's more to come from him. We've got Reuben (Reid) who finished the season really well and there's big Drewe (Broughton) who's committed himself to a new contract. And they've all got something different.

'And we're looking to strengthen in other departments too. Nick Fenton has shown committment by signing a new contract and so has Jamie Green who's done exceptionally well. And I could talk about every single player.

'But our job now is to get the lads fit and ready for August and, hopefully, if we can better last years points then we will have had a successful season.'
