RUFC - Bye Bye Reuben?

Rotherham United's top scorer last season, Rebuen Reid, has handed in a written transfer request, less than a week after Chairman, Tony Stewart said 'the signs are good that he is staying.'

The twenty year old striker had failed to sign a contract offer which would have added an extra year, on better money, to the already two year deal he had.

Manager, Mark Robins, told The Advertiser, 'We have had a transfer request from Reuben which we will consider at a meeting on Monday and we will make a decision from there.

'I will be disappointed to lose him but if he wishes to move on then so be it.'

Reid, who was born in Bristol, began his career with Plymouth Argyle, but during his time there, he went on loan to various clubs including Torquay, Wycombe, Brentford and Rochdale, where his loan was ended abruptly due to, what Plymouth manager, Ian Holloway, said was 'internal'.

He joined the Millers last summer and was the top scorer with nineteen goals.

'we will discuss his transfer request at a meeting on Monday' - what exactly is there to discuss? If he wants out then let him go
