'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Ex Physio to meet the Queen!

Rotherham United's ex physiotherapist, Alan Smith, is to be honoured by the Queen for his services to football.

Alan, who lives in Wickersley and has his own practice there, spent five years as the club physio before moving to Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday. In 1994 he became the physio to the England International team and worked with such players as David Beckham and Michael Owen.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Alan said, 'The nomination came from the government and I was surprised when I got the official letter. It's nice to be recognised, it's a big honour and it's nice for Rotherham.'

Alan will recieve his honour at a garden party at Buckingham Palace next month.

When I first took over as editor of the Rotherham Vital site, Alan very kindly did a Question and Answer session with us.

Vital send our congratulations to Alan.
