RUFC - Warne 'great to be back'

Rotherham United's latest signing, Paul Warne has told the Official Site that he feels like he's never been away.

'Although I left the club four years ago, I lived in the town until two years ago and it's great to be back. I know the majority of the coaching staff and I'm good mates with Mark Lynch.

'I was offered a contract at Yeovil but I didn't want to sign it. I spoke with a couple of clubs in League One and then I spoke with the gaffer who said come and train with us. After a few days he said he wanted to sign me and he was so positive about me coming in that it made my decision easy. We'd kept in contact and he spoke to me before the Scunthorpe match last year, because we'd played them the week before.

'After seeing the results from last year, it's clear the club is going in the right direction and I want to be part of it.'

Warney could be in line to play some part in the friendly at Don Valley this afternoon against Walsall - kick-off 3pm

i was doubtful about his return until i saw him play yesterday as he was the best player in the first half and i can see him causing defences a few problems this year

Yes, he did well yesterday - let's hope he can keep it up, because it's going to be a long hard season
